Verdigris - Roger Eno & Brian Eno
At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, Roger Eno and Brian Eno invited artists across the world to collaborate with them on the visuals for their first collaborative album, ‘Mixing Colours’. The project was named ‘A Quiet Scene’. The work I submitted was selected as the official video for their track, ‘Verdigris’. This video for ‘Verdigris’ was also screened as part of an immersive audio-visual installation at Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center in DTLA, an event produced in partnership with dublab.

“In the late seventies, I started working with video, but just letting the event, whatever it was, happen in front of the camera.”

“This kind of music says:

‘Sit still, listen, surrender, be open to the moment. Nothing much is going to happen, and that might be just what you need right now.’

I always liked that line from the Talking Heads’ song: ‘Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens’. And I always liked the idea of going to a club where, instead of getting stimulated and all revved up, you instead get calmed down and find some space to think and feel. That is surely one of the things we want from art: the chance to be in a different world, or in a different version of this world.”
